Acquired a position at the CYENS Doctoral Training Program (DTP) / Ph.D. Fellowships of 2021. CYENS DTP provides a collaborative cohort environment, offers a wide range of research projects and innovation activities, and training opportunities. An in-house program for supporting and guiding PhD students who will be registered at a University of the CYENS consortium. The program allows students to participate in scientific colloquia, research presentations, mobility activities and visits, joint supervision of PhDs, and projects organized in collaboration with CYENS’s advanced partners (UCL and Max Planck) and other members of its developing network. CYENS will also facilitate the development and innovation of research ideas and outcomes and provide mentoring opportunities (e.g., peer feedback, guidance by senior researchers). In addition to the regular schedule of the Ph.D., a CYENS DTP student has to take a minimum of 4 courses or series of seminars offered by the program on research, entrepreneurship and innovation.

HCOMP 2020 Best Demo Award at the eighth AAAI Conference on Human Computation and Crowdsourcing for OpenTag; a research platform developed on “Understanding Human Perceptions of Image Tagging Algorithms”.

ICWSM-19 Student Grant Award – The 13th International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media 2019 Awarded me with a scholarship to assist me with my travel expenses to ICWSM-19, held on June 11-14, 2019 in Munich, Germany. This scholarship was given during the end of my studies for the master’s degree and while I was working as a Research Associate at the Transparency in Algorithms Group of the CYENS Centre of Excellence (formerly known as RISE).

Award for winning the RISE Tech Media/CYRIC prize on SmartCity Challenge at the Angelhack Hackathon, with our prototype idea, “Tasbin”, on Smart Waste Detection using Deep Learning Technologies. We also submitted a proposal at SocialChallenges.eu for implementing the idea and applying it to Ypsonas.

Award for winning the 3rd place at the Cyprus insurTech Hachathon (organized by KPMG Cyprus and Crowdpolicy Greece) bringing our prototype idea called “Advisor”. After winning the 3rd place, we had the chance to participate in an Angel Investor Pitch where we presented in front of various angel investors, insurance companies and business.

Google Award for participating at Google #HashCode 2016 Programming Competition with my team. According to the leaderboards, we have succeeded to be the 1st team in Cyprus and the No. 299 of ~10.000 teams that participated from all over the world.
