Volunteering Activity

Volunteer Member and Webmaster at INFE Cyprus (www.infecyprus.com)

Helped the establishment, monitoring and support of INFE’s official website portal that hosted eurovision-related news articles and exclusives. In addition, as a volunteer member, I was involved in the organization of a few local fan club meet-ups.

Member of the YouthPanel (CyberSafety Project) as the representative student of the University of Cyprus. (www.cybersafety.cy)

The CYberSafety Youth Panel allows young people to express their views and exchange knowledge and experiences concerning their use of digital and online technologies, as well as tips on how to stay safe. They also advise on the strategy for the creative use of digital and online technologies with safety and responsibility help create innovative resources and disseminate eSafety messages to their peers and other audiences. The CYberSafety Youth panel also participates in the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) agenda in Europe.

Council Member of the Association of Student Welfare at University of Cyprus (Σωματείο Ευημερίας Φοιτητών ΠΚ) as the representative of the University of Cyprus Clubs / Clubs’ Coordination Committee.

Council member / Vice President of the Clubs’ Coordinating Committee (Συντονιστική Επιτροπή Ομίλων) at the University of Cyprus.

Organized the University of Cyprus Club’s Night 2017. The event was successfully executed. We organized a live concert from a local band, called the SRDAM. It was mega-sponsored by Cooperative Bank Cyprus along with many other companies in the entertainment and food & drink industries in Cyprus.

Council member / Head of Internal and External Affairs of the Clubs’ Coordinating Committee (Συντονιστική Επιτροπή Ομίλων) at the University of Cyprus.

Organized the University of Cyprus Club’s Night 2016. We manage to create a big and successful event, while we focused to create an unforgettable experience for university students, sharing a lot of fun, good prices, food and drinks for students, along with a live concert from the famous band, Minus One. The event was mega-sponsored by Cooperative Bank Cyprus and many other companies in the entertainment and food & drink industries in Cyprus.

As the President of Computer Science Club at University of Cyprus

  • Organized the second Photoshop Workshop Beginners, sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society and ECDL. (an open event for all, free, without cost for the participants). We managed to give official certificates from Cyprus Computer Society for the participants.
  • Hosted the 11th international IEEEXtreme 10.0 24-Hour Programming Competition, also co-organized with IEEE UCY Student Branch, sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society, IEEE Cyprus Section, supported by Computer Science Department and Computer Engineering Department at University of Cyprus. We made sure to provide all contestants with food & drinks during the whole 24h duration of the contest.
  • Organized a second Web Development Workshop, sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society and ECDL. We managed to give participants official certificates issued by the Cyprus Computer Society (open and free event).
  • Hosted the Google HashCode 2018 Programming Competition as the official University of Cyprus Hub. Sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society, XM, Star Pizza and RedBull. Supported by Computer Science Department, University of Cyprus.

  • Hosted the 10th international IEEEXtreme 10.0 24-Hour Programming Competition, co-organized with IEEE UCY Student Branch, sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society, IEEE Cyprus Section, supported by Computer Science Department and Computer Engineering Department at University of Cyprus. We made sure to provide all contestants with food & drinks during the whole 24h duration of the contest.
  • Organized a lecture-workshop event called “Introduction to Ubuntu”. Sponsored by Free and Open Source Community Cyprus and the Cyprus Computer Society. We issued a relevant certificate for the participants (open and free event).
  • Organized a lecture-workshop event called “Introduction to LibreOffice”. Sponsored by Free and Open Source Community Cyprus and the Cyprus Computer Society. We issued a relevant certificate for the participants (open and free event).
  • Organized the second Java Helping Course 2.0 (after a huge interest and positive feedback) for the 1st year Students of the Computer Science Department at the University of Cyprus in order to enrich their knowledge and help them with 2-day lectures and workshops for the official course EPL131: Programming Principles I (open and free event).
  • Radio Producer, broadcasting every Tuesday at 19:00, for the radio show of the Computer Science Club called “#theDebug” show at UCY Voice 95.2fm. The show began on 22/11/16. We aimed to inform the public about the daily news in technology.
  • Organized the first Photoshop Workshop Advanced, sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society and ECDL. We managed to give participants official certificates from Cyprus Computer Society (open and free event).
  • Volunteer for website development support and management for an NGO called Unique Smiles (www.monadikaxamogela.com). I have managed to construct and coordinate a team to provide support for their social networks and website, aiding to expanding their action further, informing the public about the rare genetic diseases. We agreed to provide volunteering support without any cost, for a 6-month period.
  • Hosted the Google HashCode 2017 Programming Competition as the official University of Cyprus Hub. Sponsored by Cyprus Computer Society, PizzaHut and RedBull. Supported by Computer Science Department, University of Cyprus, Frederic University, UCLAN Cyprus, University of Nicosia, Napolis University Paphos, TEPAK, and European University Cyprus.
